The impact of this video is found not only in the joy exploding out of this little guy’s laughter, but also the fact of what is being ripped apart…a job rejection letter, just received by his dad.
I found my mind immediately going to the second half of Proverbs 31:25 – “She laughs at the time to come.” That is, she has solid confidence that, no matter what may come on earth, we are more than conquerors in Him.
It is such a blessing to have a spouse, or child, or friend, or pastor, or co-worker, or parent, or anyone in our life really, whose very laughter reminds of the awesome truth that God has something greater in store for our lives, despite our shortfalls, setbacks, and stumbles along the way. A visible presence to remind of us of these promises...
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose…” – Romans 8:28
”For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison…” – 2 Corinthians 4:17
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…” –Ephesians 3:20
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” –1 Peter 5:10
I am thankful that the Lord graced this baby with a contagious laugh that lights up the dark moments. Certainly, his father was comforted while likely still reeling from that terrible sting of rejection, often experienced on the road to employment. We need those evidences of grace to keep laughing. I sure needed it today. How about you?
